Job Title: Registered Nurse --- MedSurg Position Type: 48 Hours per Week (Traveler Only) Shift: 7:00 PM --- 7:00 AM Location: [Hospital Name], with FREE PARKING for easy access to the hospital. Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for our MedSurg Orthopedics unit. This position is open to travel nurses only , with 48-hour workweeks. The RN will be responsible for providing coordinated, patient-centered care to individuals recovering from orthopedic surgeries or injuries. The RN will float to like units as needed, but will not be expected to practice outside of their scope of practice. If required to float to ICU or ED, it will be to care for MedSurg-level patients or to assist as needed. Experience in MSTELE and Epic is preferred, with two years of recent experience highly desired. Candidates with one year of experience may also be considered. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Provide direct, high-quality care to orthopedic patients, including pre-operative and post-operative care, pain management, and recovery support. Assessment and Monitoring: Monitor patients--- vital signs, surgical sites, and overall recovery progress. Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition with appropriate interventions. Medications and Treatments: Administer medications as prescribed, including pain management and antibiotics. Ensure patient comfort and address side effects. Collaboration: Work with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and other healthcare team members to provide optimal patient care and recovery. Patient Education: Educate patients and families regarding orthopedic conditions, surgical procedures, and post-surgery recovery plans. Provide instructions for physical therapy, mobility, and pain management. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the Epic system, ensuring compliance with hospital and regulatory standards. Float Requirements: Be willing to float to other units as needed, including the ICU or ED, to provide care for MedSurg-level patients or assist with patient care in those areas. Safety and Infection Control: Adhere to safety protocols and infection control guidelines, ensuring a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff. Discharge Planning: Assist in the planning of patient discharges, providing necessary education and arranging follow-up care as required. Qualifications: Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred. MedSurg Orthopedic experience: Required, with 2 years of recent experience preferred. Candidates with 1 year of experience may be considered. Experience with MSTELE (Medical Telemetry) preferred. Experience with Epic Electronic Health Records (EHR) preferred. Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required . Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required .
